taxi-fares.com is an independent taxi fare guide for Australian cities, starting with Sydney. It exists because Australian cities are large and low-density, and for most suburb-to-suburb trips — the kind most people actually take — there’s no published fare to check in advance. Airport transfers are well documented elsewhere; a trip from Parramatta to Bondi Beach generally isn’t.
How the estimates are built
Every route on this site is calculated from real road-routing data (actual driving distances and times, not straight-line estimates) run through the official NSW taxi tariff structure — flagfall, per-kilometre rates for day and night, the Passenger Service Levy, and the waiting-time rule that applies whenever a vehicle drops below 26km/h in traffic. Where a route uses a toll road, that’s identified and shown separately, since tolls are one of the most common sources of surprise on a metered fare.
What this site is not
taxi-fares.com is not affiliated with any taxi operator, rideshare company, or NSW government transport body, and it does not process bookings or payments. The figures shown are estimates only — the actual metered fare on any trip depends on traffic conditions, the exact route taken, and waiting time, and can differ from the estimate shown here. Sydney Airport to CBD is the one exception: that route has a genuine government-regulated fixed fare, which this site states directly rather than estimating.
